Canadian Thanksgiving destinations shift from Canada to the U.S.

Sunday, 20 Sep, 2013 0

A list of Top Thanksgiving Destinations by Hotwire.com seems to bode well for U.S. inbound travel as the weather cools.

While Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal remain on the list, interest in U.S. cities is on the rise, despite their higher prices.

New York remains the top destination, while Chicago (last year’s number eight) and Minneapolis (last year’s number six) moved up to second and third place, and Boston and San Francisco also rose.

"The jump in rank of U.S. cities seems to indicate that many are using the holiday weekend to tack on a small leisure trip before the end of year," says Hotwire vice president Pierre-Etienne Chartier.

"It’s clear that Canadian travelers are taking full advantage of the affordable shoulder season prices in big cities across North America to get out of town and celebrate the holiday with a fun getaway."

Here’s the full list of top 10 most popular Canadian Thanksgiving weekend destinations along with average nightly hotel prices:
