Cardiff Airport announces revamp
Cardiff Airport has unveiled plans to revamp its terminal building in a bid to boost passenger numbers.
The upgrade includes a new and expanded security area to accommodate new technology and more passengers.
There will also be a new taxi booking and reception facility in arrivals, changes to drop off and pick up areas and a refurbishment of facilities.
Free wi-fi and trolley provision was launched in October.
These are the first developments following a Welsh Government loan to the airport.
Cardiff Airport has recently announced new ski routes with Flybe this winter to Chambéry, Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva.
Also, Vueling has announced a winter programme with additional flights to Malaga and Alicante operating all year round from Cardiff on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Their summer flights to Barcelona will commence on 11th April 2014.
Jon Horne, Cardiff Airport’s chief executive, said: "One aspect our customers have asked us to improve is the process for dropping off and picking people up from the Airport. From spring 2014 with the use of new technology, it will be a lot easier- and free of charge."
Figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority show Cardiff Airport passenger numbers grew by 8.6% during May to October 2013 compared with the same period last year.
