Cargo agent seizes Jet Airways plane for payment arrears
Yet more woes for beleaguered Jet Airways.
A European cargo services agent has seized one of its aircraft at Amsterdam Airport for non-payment of bills.
The Boeing 777 was scheduled to fly from Amsterdam to Mumbai on Thursday.
The airline said the flight was cancelled for ‘operational reasons.’
"The cargo agent seized Boeing 777-300 ER at the Amsterdam airport as the airline could not clear his dues," and airline source told Indian media.
It is a familiar story for the cash-strapped airline which seems to be on borrowed time.
It now only has about 26 planes left in service as nearly 100 have been grounded due to outstanding lessor fees.
Jet could be about to lose these aircraft as a group of lessors have requested to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to de-register the grounded planes.
"Lessors have totally lost faith in Jet’s resolution plan. They are not keen on keeping their aircraft grounded for the resolution program to take place," a DGCA source said.
