Caribbean pulls together to revamp website

Tourism associations across the Caribbean have joined together to revamp the destination’s website, www.CaribbeanTravel.com.

Improvements to the design and search facilities have been made after all 33 destinations joined forces to develop a new site and agreed to use common formatting.

The website has been created by the Caribbean Tourism Development Company, the Caribbean Tourism Organization, and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.

In the next stage of the development, visitors who register will be entered into a monthly prize drawing to win a free Caribbean holiday, and will be eligible for the Grand Prize one-week "Caribbean Vacation of the Lifetime" at the end of a year-long promotion on the new website.

Prize packages include round-trip air-inclusive vacations for two at Cove Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, the luxurious Round Hill Hotel and Villas in Jamaica, the Westin Hotel & Resort in St. Maarten, La Pagerie Hotel on Martinique, and a private pool suite at Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada.

All trips will also include VIP greeting service upon arrival, round-trip limousine transportation to the hotel, plus excursions to historic sites, underwater adventures, zip lining, sailing, and other activities.

"We expect that our revitalized website will set a new standard for promoting our Caribbean region and become the cornerstone of our cooperative regional marketing strategy for the Caribbean brand under the ‘Life Needs the Caribbean’ theme," said Beverly Nicholson-Doty, CTO chairman, commissioner of tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands and CTDC co-chair.

"This is an unprecedented level of regional cooperation between governments and the private sector in tourism."
