Caribbean climate research initiative makes call for research projects
The objectives of the call are to:
- Support competitive, demand-led research that addresses questions of regional priority based on recent climate change work conducted in the region, as identified by policy-makers and other key stakeholders, and documented in CARICOM’s Implementation Plan (IP) for the Regional Framework;
- Inform the design of local, national and/or regional climate compatible policies and programmes in the Caribbean;
- Enhance and build the research capacity of regional researchers in technical research design; and
- Improve the dissemination of research results to policy makers and the uptake of these research results.
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are invited for projects based on one of the following priority research themes:
- Responding to Climate Change Impacts – Vulnerabilities and Socio-Economic Implications
- Climate Compatible Development – Policies and Processes
Eligible applicants:
- May be non-profit organisations, research, academic or technical institutions or private companies.
- Must be a legal entity.
- Must be able to demonstrate an independent in-house capability to undertake and lead research based on the track record of the Principal Investigator (NB: In a Partnership arrangement, any of the organisations and/or Co-Principal Investigators may demonstrate this capacity).
- Must meet the accountability and audit requirements of CARIBSAVE and CDKN. Evidence of an institutional governance and accountability structure, audit and accounting procedures and sources of funding will be required.
- May be based outside of the Caribbean region but only if in partnership with one or more Caribbean-based research partners.
