Carnival Corp touts industry’s best Wi-Fi
Carnival Corp says the upcoming launch of its Ocean Medallion wearable tech will bring an added benefit – the best Wi-Fi at sea.
Carnival is touting ‘a new standard’ for ocean going connectivity, with ‘unprecedented service consistency.’
The new service will be called Medallion Net and debuts on Regal Princess in November when the new Ocean Medallion technology launches.
The tech is enabled by SES Networks which provides bandwidth through multi-band antennas that can withstand harsh weather and work in areas where signal strength is poor.
"Staying connected is inextricably linked to our daily life experiences and that now extends to the vacation experience, even when sailing in the middle of the sea," said John Padgett, chief experience and innovation officer for Carnival Corporation.
"MedallionNet will set the new standard for Wi-Fi service at sea and we look forward to rolling it out to our guests."
It claims it will offer ‘exceptional speeds and bandwidth.’
An affiliate of SES Networks also provides the tech which powers Royal Caribbean’s high-speed Voom Internet.
After Regal Princess, the Royal Princess, Caribbean Princess, Island Princess, Golden Princess and Crown Princess will get the Ocean Medallion treatment including Medallion Net during 2018.
