Carnival Cruise Line targets July to restart sailings
Carnival Cruise Line hopes to restart sailings in July on a limited number of ships out of Florida, Texas and possibly Seattle.
The cruise line is still working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to meet its requirements to restart cruises, and plans to sail on Carnival Horizon from Miami in July and aboard Vista and Breeze from Galveston, TX.
It also hopes to resume sailings of the Miracle and Freedom from Seattle but that is dependent on being able to sail to Alaska due to Canada’s year-long cruise ban.
All other scheduled sailings remain cancelled through the end of July.
The line says customers booked on these sailings can cancel by 31 May 2021 and obtain a full refund.
Cruises out of US ports have been suspended for more than a year and a restart will likely be muted with just a handful of ships initially operating..
Some operators have shifted vessels to new homeports in the Caribbean due to the then uncertain timeline for a cruise restart from the CDC.
It is now clearer but there is still some uncertainty.
"We continue to have constructive discussions with the CDC but still have many questions that remain unanswered. We are working diligently to resume sailing in the U.S. and meet the CDC guidelines," said Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line President.
