Carnival Cruise Line is adding a new port for Cuba cruises.

The 3,002-passenger Carnival Sunshine will offer the first cruises to Cuba from the Port of Charleston.

Carnival Sunshine will also become the largest vessel to make port calls at Havana when it begins sailing there next year.

That takes to four the number of East Coast ports offering cruises to Cuba.

Carnival Triumph offers Cuba sailings from Fort Lauderdale; Carnival Paradise from Tampa and Carnival Victory and Carnival Sensation sail from Miami.

The line’s 2019-2020 Cuba cruise program has been expanded with an extra 23 sailings across the five different ships including eight five-day cruises on Carnival Triumph with overnight calls in Havana and day-long port calls in Nassau.

"Cuba has proven to be extremely popular with our guests and we’re delighted to provide even more opportunities to experience and explore this fascinating destination ncluding the first Cuba cruises from Charleston," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Meanwhile, the line unveiled its new Fleet Operations Center in Miami.

It says the 35,000 square feet facility is the largest of its kind in the industry and will offer round-the-clock monitoring of its fleet of 26 ships.
