Carnival Freedom prepares for debut
Carnival Freedom, the 22nd ship in the Carnival Cruise Lines’ fleet, is to make its maiden voyage on Monday.
The 110,000-ton vessel has been handed over to the company in preparation for making its debut on a nine-night Mediterranean cruise from Venice on March 5.
The ship will then run alternating 12-day Med cruises from Civitavecchia, the port for Rome, throughout the summer from March 14. Its winter schedule of seven-day Caribbean sailings from Miami starts on November 17.
Carnival Freedom features 1,487 cabins, more than half with ocean views or balconies, 22 lounges and bars, a 13,300 square foot health club and extensive facilities for children.
A poolside ‘Seaside Theatre’ displays films, concerts and other programmes on a 270-square foot LED screen.
The line’s president and CEO Bob Dickinson described Europe as “one of the fastest growing regions for cruising”.
