Carnival shares rise on good cruise news

Travel and tourism shares had a positive day yesterday as London’s equity markets made significant gains. The FTSE 100 index added 32.7 points to close at 4847, while the FTSE 250 gained 46.6 points to end the day at 6983.4. Probably the biggest move came at Carnival, which added 45p to close at 3223p after announcing that it has ordered a GBP335 million ship to meet increased demand. According to The Independent, the 3,800-berth boat, which will be one of the largest in the Carnival fleet, will allow the company to offer winter cruises in the Mediterranean.
