Carnival Triumph to homeport in New Orleans next year
New Orleans is to get added cruise capacity of nearly one-third in 2016 with the deployment of the recently-renovated Carnival Triumph.
Carnival Cruise Lines will replace the Carnival Elation with Triumph and will join the Carnival Dream.
Together the two ships are expected to carry up to 450,000 passengers a year out of New Orleans.
"New Orleans is one of our fastest-growing cruise markets and deploying Carnival Triumph not only expands capacity on this highly attractive short cruise program but also provides our guests with a variety of on-board innovations and our valued travel agents with an exciting new choice to market to their clients," said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s new president.
"The repositioning of the Carnival Triumph illustrates the popularity of year-round cruising from New Orleans and Carnival Cruise Line’s confidence in the Crescent City," said Port of New Orleans CEO Gary LaGrange.
Reservations are already being accepted for the Triumph’s departures from New Orleans which include four and five-day cruises to Cozumel.
