Cartoon puts simple tourism sustainability case
A new animated film has been launched by the Travel Foundation to celebrate its tenth anniversary this year.
The film has been created as an introduction and reminder as to why sustainable business practice matters in today’s highly competitive business environment.
"This is designed as a fun, engaging introduction as to why a responsible approach to tourism is essential for travel businesses to thrive in the long term," said Salli Felton, acting chief executive of the Travel Foundation.
"In a price-driven market it’s easy to lose sight of corporate responsibility to the fragile destinations our customers visit and to let the issues of supporting local people and protecting our planet slide down the business agenda."
"But as tourism grows at a rapid pace, we can’t ever take our eye off the ball. It’s never too late for travel firms of any size to get involved and the film makes this crucial point."
"This film is intended to introduce what sustainability means for those who have yet to take the first steps, and as a reminder about continuing to raise the bar for those already engaged."
The film can be seen at http://youtu.be/_Quskyp7auk
The charity will use the film to engage more companies in their work and is encouraging businesses to share with staff.
