Cash-strapped SpiceJet placed under regulator’s ‘enhanced surveillance’
Aviation regulator DGCA has reportedly again put SpiceJet under ‘enhanced surveillance’ due to its worsening financial plight.
Lessors have been seeking to repossess some of SpiceJet’s leased aircraft.
The regulator placed the airline in ‘enhanced surveillance’ for an initial three weeks.
This gives inspectors authority to make spot checks and audits.
This is to ensure the airline maintains airworthiness and follows all safety protocols, and doesn’t ‘cut any corners.’
Spicejet refuted the news it was placed under DGCA scrutiny.
“The information is absolutely incorrect and is strongly denied,” the airline said.
Soicejet has recently settled disputes with some lessors.
