Castle-themed security queue at Gatwick
Stress-free security queues are on offer at Gatwick airport with the opening of an ‘adventure walk’ for children.
As part of the new 19 lane security area, children can now enter through an eight-foot high castle and meet their parents at the other end.
Two lanes are dedicated to families with young children and passengers with reduced mobility.
Seven year old Ross Sandwell, of Milton Mount primary school in Crawley, helped design the child-friendly walk which aims to reduce the stress and hassle of passing through security.
Geoff Williams, head of security at Gatwick airport, said: "The input from the school-children has been fantastic – making the security environment more welcoming and inviting for younger children.
"We have improved every aspect of security – from the preparation area right through to the moment passengers hit the lounge – and are confident that the changes we have made will make a huge difference to all those travelling through the airport.”
