Cathay Pacific CEO appointed chairman of oneworld
The chief executive of Cathay Pacific has been tapped to take over as chairman of global airline alliance oneworld.
Cathay CEO Ivan Chu will succeed Willie Walsh, CEO of IAG, the parent company of oneworld members British Airways and Iberia.
Chu said: "oneworld is the world’s leading global airline alliance and I am very honoured to be asked to serve as Chairman of its Governing Board in the year ahead. I look forward to working with other board members to drive continuous developments of oneworld."
"We will keep working to provide a seamless travel experience for the millions of customers who fly with oneworld every year."
Chu was appointed Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific in early 2014 and is also on the board of affiliate carrier Hong Kong Dragon Airlines.
Previously Chu served as Cathay Pacific’s director of service delivery from 2008 and then as chief operating officer for three years.
