Cathay premium economy makes Sydney debut
Cathay Pacific Airways has taken delivery of a new Boeing 777-300ER – its the first aircraft to feature the premium economy class product and new long-haul economy class seats.
Australia will be the first international port to receive the new premium economy class when CX101 arrives into Sydney on March 2.
The product, which will be rolled out to more destinations across the network over coming months, features a quieter, more spacious cabin with between 26 and 34 seats per aircraft.
The seat pitch is 38 inches – six inches more than economy class – and the seat itself is wider and has a bigger recline.
It has a large meal table, cocktail table, footrest, a 10.6-inch personal television, an in-seat power outlet, a multi-port connector for personal devices and extra personal stowage space.
There is also priority check-in and boarding, and an extra baggage allowance for premium economy passengers.
The new long-haul economy class seat will be fitted on all Cathay Pacific long-haul Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The first aircraft will enter service in March flying to Sydney and Toronto initially. A total of 36 Boeing 777-300ERs and 26 Airbus 330-300s will be fitted with the seats by December 2013.
