Cayman Islands announces new tourism director
The Cayman Islands has announced Rosa Harris as its new permanent director of tourism with immediate effect.
Harris takes over from former Tourism Director Shomari Scott, who resigned at the end of last year and had been serving as acting director since then.
She has spent over seven years at the Department of Tourism, having joined in 2006 as national promotions and events manager.
She began her tourism career at a former Hyatt hotel in Grand Cayman in 2000 and is a graduate of Cornell University.
"Having served as acting director previously, Mrs Harris has a proven record of bringing valuable expertise and organizational skills to the table and is an asset to the Department of Tourism," said Stran Bodden, Tourism Ministry chief officer.
She was also welcomed by Tourism Minister Moses Kirkconnell, who praised her work of "continuously contributing to the betterment of our tourism product locally, while elevating our positioning globally as the destination of choice in the Caribbean."
