Cebu Pacific offers international connecting routes via Manila
MANILA — Cebu Pacific (CEB), Philippines’ leading domestic airline, is offering its 10 international-to-international connecting routes via Manila starting this month.
CEB passengers from Hong Kong or Taipei to Bangkok, Shanghai, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore can now take international connecting flights with Manila as a transit station, according to a report from the Philippines news agency (PNA).
The report quoted Candice Iyog, CEB Vice President For Marketing And Product, as saying that the growth of the airline’s international operations had made it possible to offer its guests “the convenience of international connections as well.”
These connections may elevate Manila into a major international connecting hub which, in turn, will boost the country’s tourism industry as international travellers are likely to stop over in the Philippines while going between their intended destinations.
There are daily connections on CEB’s Hong Kong and Taipei service to Bangkok, Shanghai or Singapore and vice versa.
Connections to Kuala Lumpur are four times weekly while flight connections to Jakarta are three times weekly.
Passengers can now purchase tickets for their connecting flights online.
The opening of new international routes and international flight connections is part of CEB’s strategy to achieve its target of carrying more than five million passengers this year.
CEB, now in its 12th year of operations, has the youngest fleet of aircraft in the Philippines. It operates 14 Airbus aircraft to its 20 domestic and 12 international destinations (with Guangzhou, and Macau going online from this month).
