Celebrity cancels cruises due to mechanical problems
Celebrity Cruises has had to cancel four cruises on Celebrity Millennium due to mechanical problems with the cruise ship.
The cruise line said that the mechanical issue has made it necessary to carry out unscheduled repairs.
Departures this Friday, 23 as well as August 30, September 6 and September 13 have been cancelled.
The announcement came just hours after Celebrity ended this week’s sailing of the ship early in Ketchikan, Alaska, citing a mechanical problem with one of its two propulsion units, reports USA Today.
The ship will return to service on Sept. 22 in San Diego, where it will begin a 15-night Panama Canal voyage to Fort Lauderdale.
Celebrity Cruises said: "We are deeply sorry for this unexpected and disappointing development in our guests & upcoming vacation.
"Guests booked on one of these cancelled sailings will receive a full, 100% as well as a certificate for a future cruise on Celebrity Cruises."
