Celebrity Cruises raising gratuities

Saturday, 31 May, 2016 0
The trend of increasing gratuities in the cruise industry continues with Celebrity Cruises the latest to announce it is upping the daily rate.

From June 1 the line will increase the rate from $12.95 to $13.50 per day for each guest.

Guests in Concierge Class and Aqua Class staterooms will pay $14.00, up from $13.45, while the new rate for Suite Class guests is $17.00.

The Royal Caribbean International-owned line last increased gratuities a year ago.

Carnival Cruise Line recently announced increases and Celebrity’s sister brand Royal Caribbean raised its gratuities earlier this month.

Gratuities go toward rewarding stateroom stewards, dining team members, housekeeping and other guest facing crew members.

The daily service charges are automatically added to a bill at the end of the cruise, and can be amended by guests.
