Celebrity Cruises continues to expand by confirming an order for a fourth Solstice-class vessel.

The 2,850 passenger ship is due to enter service in autumn 2011, following sister vessels joining the fleet in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The fourth in the series of 122,000-ton ships is costing the equivalent of £140,000 per berth.

Ninety per cent of the cabins will have ocean views, with 85% of cabins having balconies.

The ship, to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, will bring the Celebrity fleet up to 11 vessels.

Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises, said: “Ordering a fourth Solstice-class ship is obviously a testament to the demand we’ve received from travel agent partners and travellers alike for more cruise options with Celebrity.”
