Celebrity ship lost power, adrift in Mediterranean
A Celebrity Cruises voyage is back on track after a brief power outage saw it adrift in the Mediterranean.
The Celebrity Constellation lost power off the southern Italian coastline causing discomfort for guests for nearly three hours.
It affected lighting, air conditioning and they were served only cold food at dinner.
Guests posted online about the stifling heat but mostly praised how crew members coped with the problem.
Royal Caribbean Group confirmed the 2,170-passenger ship lost power and it fixed the ‘technical issue.’
It hasn’t disclosed what caused the technical issue or if it will need further maintenance.
“We’ve been communicating with our guests directly,” it said.
The ship ran adrift not far from the coastline so guests still had mobile phone access.
The ship concludes the current voyage on August 8 in Civitavecchia after calls at Naples and Livorno.
