Cellphone video reportedly shows last seconds of Germanwings flight
A cellphone video recording of the final moments of Germanwings Flight 4U 9525 has reportedly been found intact at the crash site.
European newspapers Paris Match and Bild ran stories reporting its existence, which shows that passengers on board the doomed flight were aware the plane was about to crash.
"The scene was so chaotic that it was hard to identify people, but the sounds of the screaming passengers made it perfectly clear that they were aware of what was about to happen to them," Paris Match reported.
"One can hear cries of ‘My God’ in several languages."
Lufthansa has doubted the newspaper reports while the French prosecutor Brice Robin has urged any video recording be turned over to investigators.
News of its existence came hours after Germanwings parent company Lufthansa admitted that co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, accused of deliberately crashing the Germanwings plane, informed airline officials that he suffered an ‘episode of severe depression’ in 2009.
Last week Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said Lubitz had been judged ‘100% flightworthy without any limitations.’
"Lufthansa will continue to provide the investigating authorities with its full and unlimited support," a company statement said.
