Cendant records soaring web sales

Cendant Corporation Hotel Group had a record-breaking summer generating more than three million room-nights through its hotel brand websites.

The brand web sales represented a 53% increase in revenue over the same period last year, according to Peter Stebel, senior vice president of sales and marketing. He said:

“Our record-breaking summer can be attributed to the improvements we have made in making it easer for consumers to access property information from our brand websites. We’ve also increased our media spending to boost customer acquisition.”

Cendant hotel properties include Super 8 Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Village, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost Inn.

The Cendant Hotel group claims to be the world’s largest franchisor with 6,349 hotels representing more than 509,000 rooms on five continents.

The company sells nearly one out of every five economy and mid-priced room nights in the US, according to Smith Travel Research and Cendant financial data.
