The company signed a joint venture agreement with Taisei Corporation and Kanden Realty & Development for Centara Grand Hotel Osaka.
It is an upscale property with 515 room that will be housed in a 34-storey tower in the city’s Namba district.
Centara’s debut in Japan is scheduled for mid-2023 and could be the first of many new hotels across the country.
The comonay says it is mulling setting up a Centara Japan business to explore more opportunities.
"Extending the Centara footprint to Japan has been a long-term strategic objective, and this is a major milestone for the Centara brand as we have successfully added the 14th country to our portfolio," said Centara CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat.
The company has 76 properties currently in operation and has a goal of boosting that to 134 hotels within four years.
