Chains going after meeting business
A growing trend for the large hotel chains: broaden their meeting and events business.
Some larger chains such as Harrah’s have already been known for their efforts to get more business in that market.
Renaissance Hotels, for example, recently launched an online community for meeting planners.
Planners can use the site to plan meetings are more than 70 properties in North America. Planners can also register for chances to win monthly prizes.
“This site will encourage meeting planners to be curious, promoting an open dialogue for information exchange and industry news,” said Michael Beardsley, vp of sales and marketing for Renaissance North America.
Renaissance is also offering Marriott Rewards bonus points to planners.
Other chains such as Crowne Plaza and Omni Hotels also have announced meetings-targeted initiatives.
