Change in Thai visa exemption rules
Visitors to Thailand are being warned of a change to its 30-day visa exemption rule, which now only allows tourists to re-enter the country via a land border twice in a calendar year.
Those who want to re-enter more than twice must obtain a Thai visa in advance of their visit.
The change, flagged up in the Foreign Office’s travel advice for Thailand, is believed to have been introduced to prevent tourists from extending their stay in Thailand by briefly visiting neighbouring countries and qualifying for another visa-exemption period when they return.
