Changes at IHEI

Tuesday, 20 Oct, 2002 0

Karen Fletcher will be resigning from the position of Director International Hotels Environment Initiative (IHEI) to lead a new programme on responsible hotel siting, design and construction.

The new programme is a joint venture between IHEI and the Centre for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB) of Washington D.C. based Conservation International. The aim is to develop guidelines for responsible hotel siting, design and construction, and to influence planning authorities and financiers to support responsible hotel development in destinations. Karen will continue to work closely with the IHEI team, IHEI-member groups and other interested parties.

Karen says, “Over the years IHEI has had a powerful, positive, global impact that has extended well beyond the hotel industry. I am privileged to have been a part of IHEI’s success and I thank all those who have been supportive partners. Naturally I hope we will continue to liase in my new capacity leading the siting, design and construction programme.”
