Changes at Intrepid after internal restructure
Intrepid Travel has appointed James Thornton, currently its global industry sales manager, to the newly created role of general manager global sales.
The move follows Intrepid Travel’s rapid expansion over recent years with the addition of sales companies in North America, Europe and South America.
It follows an internal restructure that has seen the marketing and sales functions separated into two teams.
This has taken place in order to support sales growth across industry, direct and retail channels as Intrepid Travel continues to grow.
In his new role, Thornton will report to the CEO and become a member of Intrepid Travel’s management group, providing strategic advice to develop and enhance sales performance at both a global and local level.
This role will liaise closely with the general manager global marketing, Robyn Nixon, and work in conjunction with Intrepid Travel’s companies across the globe.
Thornton has been with Intrepid Travel for the past five years. He started in an industry sales and marketing role in the UK, and was transferred to Intrepid Travel’s head office in Melbourne three years ago.
In his current role he has been instrumental in the integration of key acquisitions into Intrepid Travel, including Suntrek (North America) and Bundu (South Africa).
He has also worked on the development of key product ranges for Intrepid Travel, including Short Break Adventures and Urban Adventures.
