Michael English of Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises has been named as an associate director of the Leading Cruise Agents Alliance.
The appointment coincides with a new agreement in which the two premium lines have renewed their associate membership for 2010.
Clare Dudley (Fred Olsen Travel) has stepped down as chairman after four years. She will remain on the board of directors.
The responsibility of chairman will be on a rotational basis between the directors until a suitable replacement is found.
Board directors are Kevin Griffin (The Cruise People), Ian Hopley (Travelux), Michael English, Marion Owen (Marion Owen Travel), Clare Dudley (Fred Olsen Travel) and Stuart Perl.
Griffin said: “Michael is a well-respected figure in the UK cruise sector and is already playing a very active part in our development.
Along with long serving director Ian Hopley (Travelux of Tenderden), English will take a particular interest in member recruitment during 2010.
“We believe that The LCA now, more than ever, has an established position with concise objectives in the UK cruise market, and our recently-adopted mission statement sets those objectives out in crystal clear form,” said Griffin.
“Clare has been integral in the development of The LCA over the years and we can’t thank her enough for her dedication and drive.
“She will still be actively involved in the LCA’s development and we hope to appoint a permanent chair in the coming months.”
