Thursday, 14 Aug, 2014 0

Enterprise event management platform Cvent has revealed its annual chart for the top 50 US cities for meetings and conventions.

Chicago edged up one place from last year to top the list, ahead of perennial favorites Orlando and Las Vegas.

Cvent appraised over 5,000 US destinations on the Cvent Supplier Network to compile the annual list, which is in its third year.

Cvent tracked a number of different criteria including request for proposals received and subsequently awarded, room nights and the percentage of qualified meeting venues.

"Destinations are increasingly jockeying for lucrative meetings and events business which is an important generator of revenue for the cities and local businesses," said Bharet Malhotra, senior vice president of sales at Cvent Supplier Network.

"Across several metrics, we have seen more booking and interest in Midwestern and other centrally located cities during the past 12 months."

Cvent Supplier Network lists over 200,000 hotels and event venues in more than 175 countries.

The top 10 cities are:

1. Chicago, IL
2. Orlando, FL
3. Las Vegas, NV
4. Atlanta, GA
5. San Diego, CA
6. New York, NY
7. Dallas, TX
8. Washington, D.C.
9. New Orleans, LA
10. Nashville, TN
