Child-free flights and nibbling on Pringles

Friday, 21 Aug, 2015 0

Opinions are divided this week as a British journalist proposed the idea of child-free airline flights, or at least special seating sections for families. Despite being a mother herself, she believes it is not necessary to take babies on long haul flights. Unsurprisingly, social media users are debating the proposal on twitter using #ChildFreeFlights, and while the campaign has received a lot of support, the general consensus appears to be that the suggestion is ‘ridiculous’. Looks like the sky will continue to cater for all ages for the time being.

This week Prime Minister David Cameron was snapped snacking on a tube of Pringles while on an EasyJet flight heading to the Algarve. A fellow passenger tweeted a short video of the PM enjoying his snack with the caption ‘GUYS IM CRYING HE WAS EATING PRINGLES’, which quickly went viral.

Marriott International continues to expand its #LoveTravels campaign which promotes diversity and inspiring stories that show how people bring their passions with them when travelling. The campaign embraces the unique perspectives and experiences of travellers, through user generated content shared on Twitter and Facebook. Marriott has launched a new video series as part of the campaign which recognises Latino influencers Diane Guerrero, Diego Boneta and Boyce Avenue. These ambassadors tell their stories of how travel bridges gaps between cultures, careers and families and what it means to be both Latino and American.

And finally, a favourite Instagram hashtag, #foodporn, may be in danger in Germany with the introduction of expanded copyright laws. According to the new laws, ‘elaborately arranged food‘ is the copyright of the food’s creator and is not to be angled and filtered by customers for their own social media usage. Best you snap in secret next time you’re dining on gourmet wurst in a German restaurant.
