China Airlines Chairman passes away
China Airlines has paid tribute to Chairman Su-Chien Hsieh who has passed away.
A 46-year veteran of China Airlines, Chairman Hsieh led the management team and employees through the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the subsequent recovery.
The airline recorded the highest revenue in its 65-year history in 2024.
Chairman Hsieh joined China Airlines in 1979 as an entry-level financial specialist.
His career spanned the Accounting Division, Passenger Sales Division, Sales Manager of Taipei Branch, General Manager of Kaohsiung Branch, Vice President of Taiwan Region and General Manager of Taipei Branch, and Senior Vice President.
He was also stationed overseas as the General Manager of Indonesia and Australia, as well as affiliated enterprises such as Abacus Distribution Systems Taiwan Limited and Taiwan Air Cargo Terminals Limited.
In 2016 Hsieh became the President of China Airlines and Chairman of Mandarin Airlines before becoming the Chairman of China Airlines.
His passing is ‘a tremendous loss’ the airline says
“All China Airlines employees grieve his passing and express their heartfelt condolences to the Chairman’s family.”
