China approves restart of trans-provincial group tours
China’s ministry of culture and tourism has given the green light for inter-provincial group tours to restart.
Suspended since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, tours from one province to another are allowed again as long as they are in low-risk regions.
Overseas group tours are still banned.
Group tour organisers must ensure they provide protective materials such as masks, temperature testing equipment and disposable gloves, for drivers, tour guides and tourists.
Customers must show their health QR codes to tour agency staff when they book group tours.
The ministry is also allowing tourist attractions across the country to raise visitor capacity to 50% of normal pre-pandemic levels.
Until now it had been limited to 30%.
