China Eastern Airlines will restart flights to Delhi from Shanghai next month.
The airline launches the service on November 9 with three weekly flights on A330-200 aircraft.
It follows a hiatus of more than five years for direct India-China flights.
The first flights connecting the countries restart this weekend when IndiGo starts services between Kolkata and Guangzhou.
“The resumption of this service marks the full restoration of China Eastern Airlines’ network in India, providing fresh momentum for people-to-people exchanges and economic and trade collaboration,” the airline said.
China Eastern Airlines first stared flying to India in the early 2000s.
Flights were halted in 2020 due to the pandemic shutdown and were never restarted because of land border skirmishes between the two countries.
India’s civil aviation ministry earlier this month gave the go-ahead for direct flights to resume.
