China full of untapped potential says WTTC
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced its intention to hold a forum of leading travel industry representatives in order to tackle the issue of tourism in China. The WTTC says China has huge potential for travel and tourism and published a report to that effect in October. The WTTC, which represents the private sector in the travel industry, hopes to attract leading industry chief executives to the debate, to be held in Shanghai next month. The agenda will set out to establish a WTTC China Initiative, outlining details of objectives, funding, organisational structure and membership. WTTC president, Jean-Claude Baumgarten said: “This meeting of China’s Travel & Tourism private sector leaders is an important first step in building a coalition of support and organization around the policy agenda that WTTC has developed for China and Hong Kong. Our recent report and recommendations on China’s Travel & Tourism potential was well received by the public and private sector and now it’s time to translate this groundbreaking policy advice into action.” Requests for invitation can be made by contacting WTTC’s offices in London by email at [email protected].
