China grows as tourist destination
Intrepid is doubling its premium trips to China following the success of its itineraries to the country. Intrepid offers two premium trips to China – 12 days travelling from Beijing to Shanghai and 21 days from Hong Kong to Beijing. Both will depart on 20 dates in 2004. Intrepid’s premium trips have a maximum group size of 15, stay in superior, but not five star accommodation and offer more ‘comfort’ than the less expensive options. China, frequently muted as the ‘next big tourist destination’, is growing in popularity. Earlier this year, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) said China would grow in popularity and become the world’s top tourist destination by 2020. Intrepid’s 12 day trip costs from £1,040 and the 21 day trip from £1,540.
