China Southern Airlines to codeshare with Finnair
China Southern Airlines and Nordic flag-carrier Finnair have agreed a codesharing pact, which will launch on June 1.
The partnership will see onward ticketing and through baggage services for Finnair customers travelling east on Finnair’s Guangzhou service.
They will be able to connect on China Southern-operated flights from Guangzhou to Changsha, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Sanya, Wenzhou, Xiamen and Xi´an.
In turn, China Southern customers flying to Europe can connect to other major cities including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, London, Paris and Stockholm.
"We’re very excited about this first step of our partnership with China Southern. This codeshare opens up new destinations in China for our customers on the Helsinki-Guangzhou route, which we just extended to year-round operations," said Christian Lesjak, network and resource management at Finnair.
It is China Southern’s first codeshare agreement with an airline from Northern Europe.
Finnair customers are already well connected across Asia thanks to an existing codeshare partnership with Japan Airlines.
The Finnish flag-carrier flies direct to around 20 destinations in Asia from its Helsinki hub.
