China’s ministry of culture and tourism says the country’s tourism industry is back with a bang.

The ministry says as many as 85 million trips have been made in the first three days of the May Day holiday period.

The five day holiday ends on May 5.

It said on Sunday alone, tourists made nearly 31 million trips across the country to visit beauty spots, national parks and landmarks.

It brought in about $ 1.78 billion in tourism-related revenues, and nearly $5 billion in total for the three days.

It is still down on normal levels for the time of year.

Many attractions have not yet reopened and most that are open are capping maximum daily numbers.

Nearly 1.7 million people visited Beijing public parks during the first two days of May, and Shanghai’s landmarks and museums welcomed more than a million visitors.
