Two Chinese men were found dead inside their Chiang Mai hotel room which police are treating as a possible murder-suicide.

Two bodies were discovered after hotel staff were alerted to a bad smell coming from the room, which had a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door for several days.

Deputy superintendent Pol Lieutenant Paiboon Namthong told local Thai media the first victim Qin Dianxiogm, 30, died 2-3 days earlier and had ligature marks around his neck.

The body of the second man, identified as 29-year-old Sun Zhengbin, was found hanging by the bathroom and police believe he committed suicide just a few housr before the two bodies were discovered.

Investigators suspect they had an argument that turned violent, with the killer then taking his own life a couple of days later.

Police are waiting on an autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death.
