Christ the Redeemer the most searched for Brazilian attraction
Brazil tourism promotion agency Embratur revealed Rio’s iconic Christ the Redeemer continues to be the most searched for attraction in the country.
The Rio attraction, which will turn 100 years old in 2031, gained even more prominence with the launch of Embratur’s campaign “Rio, Cidade Abençoada”, held during the Lisbon Travel Market (BTL) in March.
The campaign goal was to promote Rio de Janeiro in the European market, highlighting the potential for both religious and sports tourism.
In 2025, Rio is already the main destination booked. Christ the Redeemer, is the most searched attraction.
President of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, said: “The world identifies Brazil when it sees Christ the Redeemer and Rio is the gateway to Brazil.”
Christ the Redeemer measures 30 meters (98 feet) tall and weighs 635 tons.
In a ranking made with data from the Similarweb platform, which measures internet traffic, Christ the Redeemer was top.
It was followed by the Iguaçu Falls in Paraná and the Sugarloaf Mountain, also in Rio de Janeiro.
The top 10 list includes two other Rio attractions –Maracanã and the Museum of Tomorrow.
