Christmas-cheer at Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines
Minneapolis-based Borton Overseas, the US reseller for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, announced some Christmas cruises at several major ports including Copenhagen and Hamburg that include holiday markets, traditional foods, and many special events.
“The Fred. Olsen collection of holiday cruises also encompasses itineraries in warmer destinations including, the Canary Islands and the Caribbean,” says the company.
All Olsen cruises feature British-style celebrations with traditional foods including plum pudding as well as holiday singing and other events.
Rates for an outside cabin start at $119 per person, per night, based on double occupancy.
One example of a “super saver” cruise is the Balmoral, a refitted ship from Dover to Copenhagen and on to Hamburg and Amsterdam. The cost is less than $110 per person per night for a seven-night trip.
Other examples:
—-The 856-passenger Boudicca’s Yuletide Amsterdam & Bruges Cruises departs Portsmouth on Dec. 18 for a 4-night mini cruise, calling at Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Amsterdam (Netherlands). Rates begin at $565 per person for an outside cabin. That is less than $142 per person, per night.
—-Captivating Christmas Markets is an 8-night cruise aboard the 807-passenger Black Watch departing Southampton on Dec. 11. Ports of call: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Copenhagen (Denmark), Warnemunde (Germany), (cruising the Kiel Canal), and Bremerhaven (Germany). Rates begin at $949 for an outside cabin. That is less than $119 per night for an outside cabin.
