CLIA closing down Florida office
Cruise Lines International Association is pulling out of South Florida in the spring of next year.
It will close its Fort Lauderdale office and consolidate all operations at a new office in Washington, DC which will open in mid-January.
Workers at its Arlington, Va office will transfer to the new DC base at the same time.
Some staffers in Florida have been asked to relocate to Washington, while others will be able to work remotely.
CLIA confirmed that there will also be some job losses.
"I have a great appreciation and regard for our Fort Lauderdale team and their dedication to our members," said CLIA CEO Christine Duffy.
"CLIA will be providing support to them throughout this transition."
Duffy said the association will be better placed to serve members by centralizing all functions in one office, such as advocacy, communications and travel trade support.
CLIA also announced the appointment of Cindy D’Aoust as executive vice president of membership and operations.
D’Aoust will initially supervise the transition to DC and oversee all functions that were carried out in Fort Lauderdale.
