Travel AGents with Clients signed for for the resort island of Hai Nan, China should be aware there is a severe outbreak of cholera at this time Cholera is an acute, diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine and whilst is often mild or without symptoms, the present outbreak has been rated as severe. Without treatment, death can occur within hours. A person may get cholera by drinking water or eating food contaminated with bacterium. The disease spreads rapidly in areas with inadequate treatment of sewage and drinking water. Bacterium may also live in the environment in brackish rivers or coastal waters which are common in China.
