Climate activists temporarily shut down Frankfurt Airport
German air hub Frankfurt was hit with over 100 cancelled flights this morning after climate activists managed to get airside.
Many of them glued themselves to the tarmac, created chaos for airlines and passengers.
The protestors entered the airport by cutting through the perimetre fence and reached the runway by bicycle and skateboard.
Flights were diverted and dozens cancelled.
The latest protest was organised by the Last Generation activist group.
The airport said flight operations gradually resumed from 8am local time.
It is thought around 10% of scheduled flights were cancelled.
Yesterday Last Generation was involved in protests at Cologne-Bonn, Barcelona, Helsinki and Oslo airports.
Similar demonstrations have taken place at airports for most of this week.
