Coastguard rescues same holidaymaker three times in four days
A young woman holidaying in Cornwall has received a ‘comprehensive safety briefing’ after being rescued by the same lifeboat crew three times in four days last week.
The RNLI saved her on Tuesday and Thursday on Second Beach, East Looe, and again on Friday, this time off Port Nadler beach.
Each time they had sent out lifeboats after receiving calls to say she had been cut off by the tide while out walking.
Brian Bowdler, helm of Looe lifeboat, said: "The spring tides can catch people out, especially holidaymakers, who are unaware of the tidal cycles and speed that the tide can come in.
"None of these rescues were easy because of sea and weather conditions. We always respond to any call to ensure that our primary role of saving lives at sea is maintained.
"At this time of year both lifeboats are launched because the number of persons involved is not always known."
The woman was said to be ‘unhurt and fine’ after each ordeal.
On the last rescue, she was given a ‘comprehensive safety briefing’ by the coastguard.
