KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia will launch direct daily flights between Colombo and Kuala Lumpur from August 15.

Promotional all-in fares must be booked by June 14.

AirAsia regional head of commercial, Kathleen Tan, said the airline’s entry into Sri Lanka was good timing “as the country enters a new era of peace”.

She said there was strong, pent-up demand for the route.

AirAsia will use Airbus A320 aircraft on the route.

Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Bernard Goonetilleke said, “AirAsia’s decision to fly to Colombo signifies its confidence in Sri Lanka as a tourism destination.”
