Colorado AG calls for federal investigation of Frontier Airlines
Colorado’s Attorney General is pushing for a federal investigation into Denver based Frontier Airlines.
AG Phil Weiser says his office has fielded more than 100 complaints about the airlines handling of customer service issues during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is more than any other company during the pandemic, Weiser says.
He wrote to US Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to investigate the airline’s ‘deceptive’ practices.
"My office has reason to believe Frontier violated federal law and USDOT regulations by engaging in various practices that cause consumers financial and psychological harm and meet the USDOT’s criteria for being ‘unfair’ or ‘deceptive,’" Weiser wrote in the letter.
Weiser says Frontier issued flight credits for cancelled flights but they had to be used within just 90 days of the cancellation.
"Frontier’s policies and practices prevented many complainants from redeeming the full value of their flight credits and vouchers, and, in some instances, from redeeming any value at all."
He said the most common complaints were a failure to promptly refund customers and provide a customer service system that adequately resolved flight-change isues within a reasonable period of time.
The airline responded and denies the claims.
It has ‘acted in good faith to care for our passengers compassionately and fairly,’ said spokesperson Jennifer de la Cruz.
"At all times we have remained in full compliance with DOT rules and regulations governing flight changes, cancellations and refunds."
