Colorado Springs Airport reopens after terminal fire
Colorado Springs Airport has been given the all-clear to reopen early Wednesday following a fire.
It will reopen at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday with limited service said airport spokeswoman Aidan Ryan.
A fire started late Monday night on the roof of the terminal building which caused some disruption to inbound arrivals at the time while crews fought the fire.
That resulted in an all-day closure on Tuesday as inspectors monitored smoke, water and fire damage.
Fire Chief Ted Collas said the cause of the fire is still not known but Colorado Springs Fire Department will likely release a full report before the weekend.
The spread of the fire was fed by propane tanks situated on the roof, Collas said.
United Airlines is the first to resume operations with its first flight taking off at 5:30 a.m Wednesday, and Delta, American Airlines and Frontier Airlines are scheduled to resume services later in the morning.
