Columbia Convention Center open

Sunday, 28 Dec, 2004 0

The $37.3 million Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in South Carolina had 175 events booked even before its recent opening, according to convention officials.

The target market, said Convention Center President and CEO Steve Camp:

“We’re looking at state associations and other groups who live and work in a 350-mile radius.”

Mr Camp said the center will be seeking regional events with 250 to 500 people.

A key to the success of the 142,600 square foot center is a planned 255-room Hilton Hotel, which will also have 5,000 square feet of meeting space. It’s due to open in early 2006.
